Characters: Dymitr/Niko Kostka
When Among Crows by Veronica Roth is an urban fantasy novella based in Slavic mythology/folklore. It features Dymitr, a monster hunter trained from birth, teaming up with two of the monsters he’d usually have to hunt and kill in order to track down the witch Baba Jaga, set against the backdrop of the supernatural underworld of Chicago. I loved the worldbuilding and the characters and immediately wished that it had been a full novel or that we’d get a sequel (and then we got a sequel!!!!) I highly recommend reading it even if no fic comes of it for this exchange!
Niko was my immediate fave, but all three mains were interesting and played off each other well. I would be happy to get anything involving Niko and Dymitr’s developing relationship, either in the space between When Among Crows and To Clutch a Razor or post-TCaR. Some ideas include Dymitr getting used to no longer being a Knight, the emotional fallout following the second book, or him dealing with his new monster-y ‘relatives’. Feel free to include Ala too if you’d like.
Pure fluff is totally welcome too! Dym and Niko’s first date, the first time they sleep together and the aftermath of that, whatever. I just want to spend more time in this world with these characters!
